FOFUS Newsroom — October 27, 2026

Metal additive manufacturing and regional collaborations dominate today's industry updates.

Multi-material metal printing advance. VoxelMatters reported on 27 Oct 2026 that the University of Turku in Finland installed a Schaeffler Aerosint SPD2.1-B5 multi-material recoater on its Aconity MIDI+ printer. This upgrade allows the system to selectively place several powders within individual layers. The work is part of the AM4Plasma project supported by Business Finland.

Hypersonic manufacturing expansion. Kratos Defense & Security Solutions acquired a large-scale M 8K eight-laser metal 3D printer from AMCM, according to VoxelMatters on 27 Oct 2026. The machine will be housed at the Indiana Payload Integration Facility. It is intended to support the development of hypersonic technologies for aerospace and defense.

Nordic Pavilion for Formnext. The Nordic Additive Manufacturing Alliance has organized a joint pavilion for Formnext 2026 in Frankfurt, VoxelMatters noted on 27 Oct 2026. The pavilion runs from November 17-20 and groups companies and research organizations from Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden. Exhibitors include VTT, Outokumpu, and RISE Research Institutes of Sweden.
