Religious Idols for Every Festival – Thrissur Pooram to Guruvayur Ekadasi | 3D Divine

Religious Idols for Every Festival – From Thrissur Pooram to Guruvayur Ekadasi

The devotional calendar of Thrissur district runs all year. This is Kerala's cultural capital — the district with the most temples, the largest temple festival on earth, and two of India's most-visited pilgrimage sites within 30km of each other. At 3D Divine by FOFUS, our idol creation calendar follows this devotional rhythm precisely.

Here is your complete guide to which idols to commission, when to order, and why each festival matters to our studio in Irinjalakuda.

Guruvayur Ekadasi – November/December

The most sacred Ekadasi in Kerala. Observed in Vrischikam month, this is when Guruvayur Temple conducts its grandest abhishekam and lakhs of devotees visit. Many families install a new Guruvayurappan idol in their puja room on this day — a new consecration for the year ahead.

Order by: Mid-October for Ekadasi delivery. Idol: Chaturbhuja Guruvayurappan, Bal Gopal, Flute Krishna.

Mandala Deeksha and Sabarimala Season – November to January

The 41-day Mandala Deeksha vow of Sabarimala pilgrimage begins in late November. Households where a family member observes the vow install an Ayyappa idol and maintain daily puja for the duration. This is one of the most widespread devotional practices across Thrissur, Palakkad and Ernakulam districts.

Order by: Early November. Idol: Ayyappa in seated yogic posture, finished in black with gold accents. Sastha form also available.

Christmas – December 25

Kerala's Christian community is among the oldest in the world, with roots to Saint Thomas the Apostle's arrival in 52 AD. Churches in Irinjalakuda, Chalakudy and across Thrissur district celebrate Christmas with intensity. Our Christ 3D Print brand creates nativity scenes, Jesus and Mary figurines, and cross designs for Christian devotees.

Order by: December 1. Pieces: Full nativity set, Sacred Heart Jesus, Our Lady of Velankanni, wall and altar crosses.

Vishu – April

Kerala's astrological new year, celebrated with the Vishukkani — an auspicious visual arrangement of gold, flowers, fruits, rice, cloth and the image of Guruvayurappan or Vishnu seen first thing on the morning of Vishu. A beautifully crafted Vishnu or Guruvayurappan idol as the centrepiece of the Vishukkani is the most traditional way to observe this festival.

Order by: Late March. Idol: Guruvayurappan, Mahavishnu, Ananthasayana Vishnu.

Thrissur Pooram – April/May

The Mother of All Poorams. Held at Vadakkunnathan Temple — a Shiva temple — with processions from Paramekkavu Bhagavathi Temple and Thiruvambady Bhagavathi Temple, Thrissur Pooram is a festival that belongs to all of Kerala. In the weeks before Pooram, devotees across Thrissur district perform special pujas to Bhagavathi and Shiva.

Order by: 3 weeks before Pooram (usually early April). Idols: Devi/Bhagavathi in fierce and compassionate forms, Nataraja Shiva, Vadakkunnathan-inspired Shiva lingam piece.

Ganesh Chaturthi – August/September

Ganesha is the most universally worshipped deity in Hinduism — the Vighnaharta, the remover of obstacles, the deity invoked before every new beginning. Ganesh Chaturthi is our highest-demand festival. Every home, business and institution installs a Ganesha on this day.

Order by: 1 month in advance — slots fill fast. Idols: Sitting Ganesha, Dancing Ganesha, Panchamukhi Ganesha, Bal Ganesha, Gajalakshmi-Ganesha pair.

Onam – August/September

Kerala's most beloved festival of harvest and homecoming celebrates the return of the mythical King Mahabali (Maveli) — himself a devotee of Lord Vishnu. Onam puja involves flowers, oil lamps, the Onam Sadhya and a Vishnu or Vamana piece at the centre of the home.

Order by: 3 weeks before Onam (usually late July to August). Idols: Mahabali/Maveli figurine, Vamana avatar, Vishnu in Trivikrama form. Our Kerala Artorium brand also makes Onam cultural pieces — Mahabali in traditional Kerala attire.

Navratri and Vijayadasami – September/October

Nine nights of Goddess worship, culminating in Vijayadasami — the most auspicious day for beginning new learning and new ventures. Navratri is celebrated with Kolu (display of idols on steps), special Devi puja and Saraswati puja for students.

Order by: September 1. Idols: Durga on lion, Saraswati with veena, Lakshmi on lotus, Kali, Chamunda, complete Navadurga set, Sapta Matrikas panel for Kolu display.

Diwali – October/November

Festival of lights, prosperity and the worship of Lakshmi and Ganesha. Diwali lamp holders, Lakshmi idols and Ganesha pieces are our most-ordered items in the October run-up. Diyas, lamp stands and decorative candle holders in 3D printed form with traditional Kerala motifs are unique to our catalog.

Order by: Early October. Idols and decor: Lakshmi-Ganesha pair, Diya sets, lotus candle holders, decorative lamp stands.

Griha Pravesh (Housewarming) – Year-Round

A new home in a Kerala Hindu family is consecrated with a Griha Pravesh puja. The puja room is installed first, and the family deity — whether Ganesha, Guruvayurappan, Devi, Shiva or the family's kula daivam — is placed with prayers. A custom 3D Divine idol commissioned specifically for the new home's puja room is among our most meaningful and personal commissions.

Order: 2 weeks before the Griha Pravesh date. Any deity, any size, any finish.
