Kerala Artorium

Kerala Culture, 3D Printed and Delivered Worldwide

Kerala Artorium is a cultural product brand founded as the flagship launch on FOFUS, operating from its walk-in studio at Thommana, Irinjalakuda, Thrissur. It is Kerala's only dedicated retail destination for 3D-printed Kerala heritage and culture products — from Theyyam sculptures to Kathakali figurines, from Onam decor to Nalambalam collectibles.

The premise is simple but powerful: Kerala has one of India’s richest visual cultures — Theyyam, Kathakali, Mohiniyattam, Vallam Kali, the Pooram festivals — yet almost none of this cultural wealth exists as quality, affordable, reproducible product. Kerala Artorium was built to fix that gap.

The Founding Story

Kerala Artorium was incubated directly inside FOFUS’s Thommana facility. The question the founders asked was straightforward: why does a tourist visiting Thrissur Pooram have to choose between cheap plastic souvenirs and expensive hand-carved wood pieces with no middle ground? And why do Keralites living in the Gulf, in Bangalore, or in the US have no way to buy a quality, affordable Theyyam sculpture for their home?

The answer was 3D printing — a technology that can reproduce fine cultural detail at scale, at a price point that makes gifting practical, with customisation options that hand-carving cannot offer.

Kerala Artorium’s first product was a Theyyam Heritage Sculpture — a 150mm hand-finished figurine of the iconic Kannapan Theyyam form, capturing the crown, the costume layering, and the ritual body paint in high detail. It sold out its first batch of 100 units within 3 weeks of launch on fofus.in.

Manufacturing Journey

Every Kerala Artorium product follows the same rigorous production path inside the FOFUS facility at Thommana:

  1. Reference research — authentic photographic and archival reference gathered for each cultural subject
  2. 3D sculpting — digital sculptor builds the model in ZBrush, capturing costume detail, proportion, and cultural accuracy
  3. FOFUS review — prototype printed in PLA, checked against reference, revised until accurate
  4. Production print — final model printed in high-detail resin or PLA depending on the product
  5. Hand finishing — support removal, sanding, priming, and painting by trained finishers
  6. Quality check — each piece inspected before packaging
  7. Packaging — foam-protected gift box with FOFUS and Kerala Artorium branding
